Excitement….Apprehension….

What is my excitement and apprehension all about?

I have a new job, yes that’s right, a new job.  Out of the blue last Thursday afternoon a friends husband rang me, he is in partnership with another man in the money managing arena.  They have had a couple of young girls looking after reception, but it hasn’t worked out, so they decided to go for the more ‘mature’ lady (hehehe, me mature) nice way of putting ‘old’ don’t you think.  The partners wife and I will be looking after Reception/Admin and it is a job share position, I am working Mondays and Thursdays to start and then probably Wednesdays so both of us can be there comparing notes etc to make sure the office runs smoothly.  The offices are close to home, very lush and the young people seem to be nice and were quite happy that I was going to be working there.

I have never finished one job and gone straight into another one, am feeling this is a good omen.  I finished up today even tho I offered to work the week out, and continue coming in on a Tuesday just to keep it chugging along until they get someone else.  But one partner decided she didn’t want me to stay, even tho the other one did as the office lady is off for a weeks holiday next week.

Onwards and upwards, as one door closes another one opens, I shall miss the lovely customers as I had established a great relationship with a lot of them, I just hope the next person treats them with warmth and makes them feel more than just a number.

I am feeling a bit more positive about my money situation as I am being paid more in this job.   I had to go through the wardrobe and fish out all my ‘office’ clothes, will get the good pants cleaned tomorrow and I will be set to go in on Friday to familiarise myself and sign contracts etc.  They are also happy enough that I leave early for the dance job, am feeling very blessed and grateful right at this moment.

Ok, now onto something crafty, I finished my stool cover….I need to practice how to join so that you can’t see them…joins that is.  I decided to make one in cotton yarn, apart from practice I decided that this ↓↓↓↓ one may be a little hot under my toosh in summer…….and not to do two rows of any color like I did the yellow and blue, bit ‘bulls eye’ lookin.

I have just started an oval bath mat, not sure how successful this will be tho’, more practice is needed especially with introducing new colors.

My lovely son is cooking dinner tonight, I am really tired, I think I was a bit ‘uptight’ about resigning and haven’t slept well for a couple of nights.  Tonight I will sleep soundly I am sure, especially helped along with a glass of wine.

Toodlepip, catch up with you all soon, have a lovely rest of the week.

Oh this is a photo my granddaughter took of the buttons she was playing with (yay she loves buttons too) not a bad photo for a 4 year old.

That’s a fab pic your granddaughter took. Very arty!

Yay for a new job!!!! Hurrah!!!! Hurrah!!!! Sod off silly old job!!!!! So happy for you.

Looking at your lovely stool cover, I wonder if joining a new colour in different places on each round might solve the problem? Worth a try.

Right, the super market delivery is sat on the work tops waiting to be packed away so I better go.

    Huge love.

I am so glad for you, brilliant news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the stool cover, looks great, love the bulls eye look, it kinda says “park it here” 😀
    There’s a photographer in the making there…………..

    Lots of love Karen x

Woo hoo! You’re ready to go. Out with the old and in with the new. I hope this new job is everything you hope and more. One thing I learned being a receptionist was to have the company’s reference information next to the phone so when a customer calls with a curly question you can give them the answer straight away! Makes you look brilliant!!!

Just thinking about work clothes, by the time I rejoin the workforce (if I do so!), I’ll have to start from scratch. My old suits will be hopelessly outdated.

    xXx Helen

Congratulations, you’ll knock them dead! That’s really good news.
Are these sort of places as stuffy in your country as they are here? I don’t believe in suits, especially for women, to me they are uniform and I HATE uniform. You can look soooo elegant in non-matching ensembles and create your own style.
Good luck for Friday, keep us posted.

Yea! on the new job. I know you’ll be great! I LOVE the stool cover, it’s so adorable! Do worry about the joins. I’ve been crocheting for a while now and I still sometimes have issues with them. I made a hat one time that had an odd hump at the join. Very odd. Your Granddaughter has a good eye. She has a creative future ahead of here 🙂

  6. Helen says:

Well done you with the new job, how lucky that it came along at just the right time. Good luck on Friday, although I’m sure you won’t need it.

What a creative 4-year-old! I wonder where she can have inherited that from…..

    Hi Sandi

I can’t believe it but this time I managed to get through to your blog! When I clicked on your name it took me through to your blog and all along I’ve been wishing I could communicate with you, see what you’re up too etc! Normally blogger stops me at your name and so I assumed you didn’t have a blog. Yay, this is exciting for me to have a look at all your gorgeous creations and ca to you. Thank you so much for all your ever so lovely comments on my blog, I really have appreciated them and hope you didn’t think I was rude not commenting on yours thinking you didn’t have a blog. Congrats on your new door opening, all the very best with your new job. Remember I said I was at a little crossroads… well it’s job related too, I will reveal all if it comes to fruition.
